The main focus of the 4-credit Practicum is to report what was accomplished after returning from Japan.  The requirements for this course are the same as those required for acceptance in the JFMF program.

Course Objectives:

The PRACTICUM is intended to provide the educator with new insights and perspectives on Japanese Education and Culture to: (1) augment his/her leadership skills and abilities in his/her respective educational settings;  (2) enhance his/her effectiveness as change agents; and  (3) employ the competencies needed for leadership in today’s educational settings.

The Practicum (EDCA 5778) offers each student an opportunity to gain 4 graduate credits.

Expectations:

Upon completing the four-hour PRACTICUM, participants will demonstrate in their report how they applied the following competencies:

1.       Change, if any, in the classroom, the school community and the greater community e.g., effectiveness in involving public officials, Japanese consulates, Japan Society, Japan-America Societies, legislative representatives about FMF experiences and educational issues;

2.       Enhanced utilization of technology in instruction; and

3.       Identification and dissemination of best practices -- assembling best practices and lessons learned for replication, adoption/adaptation  -- publishing curricula materials on the Friends Website, www.friends-fmf.com, other Websites, hard copy, professional journals, presentations at conferences, lecturing, etc.
